Matte Medium & Varnish – Professional Artist Fluid Medium

Global Colours Professional Matte Medium and Varnish is a versatile artistic tool designed to serve dual purposes as both a medium and a protective sealant. When used as a medium, it functions to diminish gloss levels and enhance the flow of acrylic paint. As a varnish, it goes beyond providing a robust protective layer – it creates a tack-free, non-yellowing clear film with outstanding binding, adhesion, and water resistance properties, ensuring the longevity and preservation of your artwork for years to come.

To achieve the desired matte effect, simply incorporate up to 50% of the Matte Medium & Varnish into your acrylic paint. Before use, gently stir the mixture, and if used as a medium, you have the option to dilute it with up to 25% water. When applying as a varnish, ensure the surface is fully dry and use it undiluted with a brush or roller. For optimal results, apply up to three thin coats, allowing a minimum of three hours of drying time between coats. If a thicker coat is preferred, apply multiple thin coats to avoid brush marks and drips. Keep in mind that drying time may vary, approximately ranging from 2 to 4 hours, depending on ambient temperature, with a minimum film form ambient temperature of 8°C. Cleanup is a breeze with soap and warm water, making the artistic process smooth and convenient.
